Two years after its launch, the hit first-shooter game "Battlefield 4" is getting a free multiplayer DLC, which will feature the Dragon Valley map from "Battlefield 2."
Swedish video game developer EA Digital Illusions CE (EA DICE) is bringing a redesigned Dragon Valley 2015 map for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC along with the Legacy Operations DLC for "Battlefield 4" for free.
"Our goal for this map was to make an impressive, large vehicle map for Battlefield 4, but at the same time modernize the original when appropriate - and include the full spectrum of applicable game modes. We weren't going for a perfect replica here, rather looking to mimic the gameplay from the original in a very different game," EA DICE has explained.
In the Dragon Valley 2015, the layout of each flag area is much bigger and more detailed than the classic "Battlefield 2" map. There are also more mountainous terrain and layers of clouds in the airspace. With the island being taller and larger, there's a lot of hiding places and cover. The map also includes Rush mode for the first time.
Because of the map's scale though, it will not be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. "We really wanted to push the envelope with Dragon Valley 2015, and that meant being able to make a bigger level, with a larger scale than anything currently in Battlefield 4. Because of that, we made the decision to focus on the more powerful platforms," EA DICE said. "This doesn't mean we're no longer supporting players on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with critical updates when needed, but we really wanted to try something big for Dragon Valley, and we think that when you play it, you'll see the difference."
The free Legacy Operations DLC for "Battlefield 4" will be released alongside the Holiday update coming before the year ends. Specific date of release is yet to be announced.
