"Days of our Lives" star Peter Reckell talks about how difficult it is for him to bid farewell to his character as Bo Brady on "Days."
According to Soap Opera Spy, Reckell already agreed to make a comeback and reprise his role in order for the writers to make a good and proper send off to Bo Brady. Peter shared that he already knows in advance that Bo will suffer from brain tumor after he is reunited with the love of his life, Hope.
Soap Opera Network reported that during Peter's NBC video interview, he revealed that he found the show "so engaging" and said that it was "a little difficult for me to leave."
It has been reported that the previous writing was a harsh one given that Bo was sent off without letting his family know where he is going. That is unlikely of Bo's character that is why a lot of fans were upset of that storyline. Now, with the new head writers, Josh Griffith and Dena Higley, they were given the task to correct Bo's previous departure and make a good comeback with his loved ones. It was a pleasant surprise for Peter that both Griffith and Higley were able to do it successfully.
Peter shared that "The Surprises are really kicking butt." When Bo came back he was seen trapped as a prisoner in a dungeon and it was his best friend Steve "Patch" Johnson who freed him and brought him back to Salem on the day of Hope's wedding.
Reckell then gushes about how impressed he was of the writers and said, "The thing that I'm so proud of with these writers, especially right now, is that they have been able to do that cost saving and still have a story that is so engaging."
When the storyline wrapped up it has been reported that Peter had second thoughts about his departure in the show since there is no more turning back and said "Hey. This is fun. I am back in the sandbox, and I want to play some more."
According to Soap Shows, in the Dec. 7 issue of Soap Opera Digest, Peter shared that he was never happy with Bo's exit to "Days" and felt "awkward' about it. But when he was asked for a short comeback he grabbed the opportunity in order to make the "story right, right with the fans and right with himself."
