Gil Arenas, former NBA All-Star, relists Virginia mansion, lowers asking price

Gil Arenas, NBA free agent, has relisted his 9,000-square-foot "Entourage"-style Virginia mansion for $2,798,000 million, reports Realtor.

The athlete, who last played for the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association, originally listed his home for $3.5 million in 2012 and slashed the asking price to $3 million last year.

According to the listing, set on a 1.19-acre lot, the three-story house includes seven bedrooms and seven full and three half bathrooms. It is complete with a living room, a family room, a separate dining room, a breakfast room and a gourmet kitchen with a center island. The house also features a separate recreation room, and a sitting room.

The former NBA All-Star commissioned the construction of the building in 2003 soon after he signed a $111 million contract with the Washington Wizards.

The home features vaulted ceilings, cherry wood flooring and an assortment of custom details. It is a unique home with a world-class grotto and shark tank display, in addition to custom entertainment centers and a hyperbaric chamber.

While the entrance of the building, which comes with a finished basement, is via a double-story foyer, the exteriors of the property include fully fenced grounds, a large swimming pool and a hot tub. There is also a pool house and a detached four-car garage.

The property is listed with Donna Karp of Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc.

Thirty-two-year-old Arenas is a three-time NBA All-Star, three-time member of the All-NBA Teams, and was voted the NBA Most Improved Player in the 2002-03 NBA season. He is nicknamed "Agent Zero" due to his former jersey number, but has increasingly been referred to as "Hibachi," a nod to the small Japanese heating device, which literally translates to "bowl of fire."

Arenas was suspended for most of the 2009-10 season because of handgun violations stemming from an episode dating back to Dec. 24, 2009, and for subsequent actions that appeared to make light of this episode.

Despite his keen interest to return to the professional league, Arenas failed to find a home in the NBA this season. He last appeared in the NBA in 2012 with the Memphis Grizzlies.
