Real vs. Reel: Discover which sitcom characters can afford paying rent today

Reel life celebrity cribs have invoked as much interest as their real life homes. While every one of us has at some point imagined what it would be like having "Leonard and Sheldon" or "Monica and Rachel" for neighbors, there are times when we have wondered if "Mindy Lahiri's" doctor's salary could pay for her expansive apartment in Manhattan.

Giving some perspective to our flights of fancy, the folks at Movoto Realty have put together an infographic analyzing if our favorite sitcom characters can afford to pay rents in the real world. They took into account the character's occupation, location and size of residence and prevailing rental prices to arrive at the figures.

They considered 30 percent of the income of the fictitious characters as "affordable rent."

They also discovered that Danny Tanner of "Full House" and Al Bundy of "Married With Children" could hardly afford the rent in current conditions.

Tanner has to pay a mortgage of $10,600 but his income is just $8,000 a month. Bundy the shoemaker has to give away all his earnings - $1,850 - to pay for the mortgage.

It was also found that characters who lived with roomies found it easier to pay off the rent (for obvious reasons). Monica and Rachel (Friends) together made $9,300 a month and paid $5,000 a month for rent. Sheldon and Leonard (The Big Bang Theory) earned $15,660 a month and paid $1,700 a month. Jessica, Nick, Miller and Schmidt (New Girl) together made $13,100 a month and paid $4,600 a month for rent.

Frasier Krane was the richest among the characters analyzed. The psychiatrist and radio personality made $19,300 a month and just paid $9,800 a month in mortgage.

You can also take a look at the miniature version of Monica and Rachel's Manhattan apartment in a video below. To re-experience the essence of the home, Brazilian artist Bruna Salvador Conforto created a replica of the famed apartment, just out of PAPER. Capturing every minute detail of the home, the micro-mini model of the residence is brilliant. Plus, it looks super organized. Monica will be impressed.
