Sinead O'Connor announced via Facebook that she "took an overdose"' as a result of her severe depression. In her highly personal posts that were assumed to be one big suicide note, she shared her struggles with gaining respect, family betrayal, and dealing with depression.
In the note, O'Connor stated: "There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I'm at a hotel, somewhere in Ireland, under another name If I wasn't posting this, my kids and family wouldn't even find out. Was dead for another fortnight since none of them bother their hole with me for a minute. I could have been dead here for weeks already and they'd never have known."
She called out her family for their "appalling cruelty," citing her being barred from seeing her youngest children from her two former husbands. Additionally, she had been very open about her custody battles that don't seem to be in her favor at all. She stated in the notes that she can barely live on her own, especially since her family has completely cut her off in terms of financial support.
According to breakingnews.ie, the "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer is now "safe and sound" in Dublin, Ireland, after her tirade on Facebook. She has already received the medical assistance she needed, but no word had been given if she is back in her family's arms.
Just recently, she announced that she is finally quitting the music industry, as she blamed it for her current family woes. She said, "Music is over for me. Music did this." She believes that it is because of her work in music that has made her distant and "invisible" to her children. This isn't also the first time she has attempted to take her own life. She has experienced a very similar incident back in 2012.
