Dennis Gilbert, the former Major League Baseball agent has reportedly unloaded his home in Calabasas area of Los Angeles for $4.5 million.
Gilbert built the Mediterranean-style home in 1990 after he purchased the lot for $1.04 million. He listed it on the open market for $6.93 million in May and gave it a price chop in late September asking $5.98 million last year.
Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency was the listing agent. The buyer was represented by Alin Glogvicean of Redfin, The Los Angeles Times reports.
The residence is located at the end of a long driveway, on a secluded lot. Spanning an area of 11,189 square feet, the single-family residence offers luxurious living. Comprised of seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, interiors of the house have drywall ceilings, tiled flooring and large glass windows.
Outside, the home has "incredible estate-like grounds, beautiful gardens, Koi ponds, 5 hole putting green, spectacular swimmer's pool, rolling lawns, and lighted championship-size tennis court."
When Gilbert listed the home, he also purchased a Holmby Hills estate for $8 million. According to the San Fernando Valley blog, Gilbert also owns a 1,964-square-foot, three bedroom-two bathroom single-family home in Woodland Hills, just minutes away from the Calabasas home.
Gilbert started off as a baseball player but his sports career was short lived. He opened an insurance agency afterwards and once his business took off, he returned to the game but as an agent. He struck big deals for baseball biggies like Barry Bonds, Jose Canseco and Bobby Bonilla.
"He not only possesses an extraordinary understanding of the business of baseball from both the labor and management perspectives, but also is deeply committed to our region, as evidenced by his well-documented philanthropic involvement throughout Southern California," David Carter, a Los Angeles-based sports business consultant told the Daily News of Gilbert in an earlier interview, adding that he was "uniquely qualified."
