The year would almost come to its end and yet there are some teams in the NBA who are not showing any progress. Despite having a decent line up and versatile players, it is very obvious that the Los Angeles Lakers has been struggling this season. With 2 wins and 13 losses and being at the bottom of the list in the Western Conference ranking, fans are now questioning about the Lakers leadership.
It is very obvious that in terms of scoring, Kobe Bryant is not anymore that efficient, and yet head coach Byron Scott is still clinging to the ailing Mamba. Scott is still adamant with his decision on letting Bryant play more minutes even though he has been "averaging 15.2 points on a career-low 31.1 percent per game," reported by dailynews. There are no signs of Scott reducing the time and even the role of Bryant in favour of the rookie and younger players.
That is why there have been some comments in the social media that Scott should be axed or be replaced by a coach who will not give too much favour towards veteran players. However, despite the rumors behind the possible removal of Byron Scott as Lakers head coach, Scott still believes that he still has the full support of the Lakers management. As reported by sircharlesincharge, Scott stated that
"Scott said he still senses support from Kupchak and Lakers executive vice president of basketball personnel Jim Buss. Scott is in the second-year of a four-year contract worth $17 million, with a team option for the final season."
If indeed true, then Lakers fan would have to wait for a miracle for changes to happen. Improvements would not happen in a month, which is why young players would have to wait. As to the words of Scott via dailynews, "We still understand that this is a process. We have a lot of young guys on this team that we feel will be very good players. But it's not going to happen in a month. It's going to take some time. It might take a year or two."
Now, with a question of replacement, guess we would just have to wait till the very end of this regular season, and see how the Lakers would make some changes in their approach.
