"General Hospital" veteran Julie Berman is joining the cast of NBC's "Chicago Med" and will debut in the show on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
The three-time Emmy award-winning actress will portray the role of Dr. Toni Zanetti. TVLine first reported Berman's casting in October for a character described as "a brilliant, self-assured attending surgeon who does not suffer fools."
Last week, the "Casual" actress wrote on Twitter about her first appearance in the "Chicago Fire" spin off and wrote, "You guys enjoying #ChicagoMed? I'm comin in hot next week. See ya next Tue!" Berman will also appear in next week's episode.
The next episode is titled "Fallback." The synopsis teases that there are wounds that never heal and Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnel) will clash with his father. Dr. Rhodes would have to confront his past as he attends to a close family friend speared by glass shards. A violinist is also set to receive a devastating diagnosis, while Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) will console a combat veteran.
Berman is known for her role as Lulu Spencer in ABC's daytime soap "General Hospital." She left the show in 2013 after eight years. Other credits she is known for include "The March Sisters at Christmas" (2012) and "Sand Sharks" (2011). She also appeared in "Jane The Virgin" (2014) and "Two and a Half Men" (2013).
"Chicago Fire" is a medical drama created by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas and produced by Universal Television and Wolf Films. The TV series stars Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson (Sharon Goodwin), Nick Gehlfuss (Dr. Will Halstead), Yaya Dacosta (Nurse April Sexton), Colin Donnell, Brian Tee (Dr. Ethan Choi), Torrey DeVitto (Dr. Natalie Manning) and Rachel DiPillo (Dr. Sarah Reese).
"Chicago Fire" Season 1 premiered last Nov. 17. There will be 13 episodes for the current season.
