Catherine Deneuve, the famous French actress and style icon has reportedly listed her large mansion in France- Château de Primard - for sale with an asking price of $5.5 million.
The Real Estalker notes that this is not one of those faux-chateaus the hot-shots are building in the Beverly Hills but an original French chateau complete with the large landscaped parks.
According to its listing at Sotheby's, the mansion sits on a large 44-acre lot by the River Eure. The estate is just about 75 kms from Paris. The mansion itself is a 13,000-square-foot, single-family, four-floor residence comprised of eight bedrooms. The listing doesn't reveal the number of bathrooms.
Domaine describes the home's setting as "straight out of French cinema" (of course!). Interiors show French doors and windows with mixed flooring and drywall ceilings. There are guest suites, sitting rooms, a library, a lounge boudoir and even a sauna suite. A "relaxation room" and a screening room are also some of its luxury amenities.
Outside, the home is surrounded by lush greenery. The grounds have been designed by Jacques Wirtz, the internationally renowned landscape architect. There is a pool set in one of the lawns and a greenhouse in another nook. There is an animal barn, a caretaker's house and other outhouse buildings.
Locals told Daily Mail that Deneuve visited the country mansion often and always led a peaceful life. Just last month the actress told the media that she wanted to spend time in the countryside and relax, therefore, the listing comes as a bit of a surprise.
While Deneuve has already taken up the role of playing "seller" in real life, more recently she played a "jilted owner of a struggling Concarneau café" in the movie "On My Way." She portrays a former 60-something beauty queen who leaves her restaurant and cheating lover for a road-trip across France.
Though Deneuve's performance was widely appreciated, there were rumors flying around that the movie was her real-life story. She denied the claims saying, "Some people who say the role was a product of my real life don't know me, obviously," according to The Wall Street Journal.
