Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy buy New York townhouse for $13.5 million

Mary-Kate Olsen, the petite "Full House" actress and her fiancé Olivier Sarkozy have reportedly picked up a New York townhouse located in the Turtle Bay Gardens area for $13.5 million.

Olsen and Sarkozy bought the home through a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) earlier this month. The seller happens to be famous painter David Deutsche, reports Curbed. The home was originally listed for $16 million but looks like, the couple snagged a neat discount.

Turtle Bay is a neighborhood with a rich history. According to the Real Estalker, heiress Charlotte Martin went on a buying spree in the area snapping up 20 townhouses in the area. She kept one townhouse for herself and sold the rest to some affluent people. Some of the celebs include Bob Dylan and Katherine Hepburn.

Martin's penthouse exchange hands twice before Olsen and Sarkozy could lay hands on it.

Listing records of the home at Douglas Elliman reveal that the townhouse at 226-228 East 49th Street - Midtown, spans an average area of 8,000 square feet and is a four-story residence that exudes an old-world charm. The home offers extreme privacy, which is probably why the couple picked it up. According to the New York Post, the two were looking for a place that had a private entrance.

Floor plans of the home show the entrance opening into a private entry gallery. The floor has a garage, a garden room with access to the private garden and a small dining area as well. Upstairs, the home has a large living room, a parlor, a library and a "hall of mirrors" too. The third floor is home to two of the bedrooms that have separate en-suite bathrooms. The floor above has a sitting room and an atelier. The top-most floor has the master suite, a swimming pool and a loggia too.

The listing describes the place as, "A magnificent property, and unique opportunity to participate in New York City's glamorous history, and future."

The couple purchased the home just two years after they bought a home on East 10th Street in lower Manhattan. But they never lived in the place because of severe privacy issues, reports Today.com.

Meanwhile, Mary Kate and her twin sister Ashley Olsen recently grabbed headlines for their appearance on the Ellen Show. They launched their fragrances on the show. Check out a hilarious clip from the show here.
