Ellen Hancock, former Apple and IBM exec lists Los Altos home for $9.5 million

Ellen Hancock, the famous technology manager who has served in top positions at IBM and Apple both, has reportedly listed her home in the Los Altos region for $9.5 million.

Public records of the home's history show that it last sold for $950,000 in 1998. Hancock first listed the home in 2012 for $12 million and hauled it off the market after failing to find a buyer, the Realtor Blog reports. The home has now resurfaced for a lesser price tag.

According to the listing records, the home is a five bedroom-five bathroom, 4,850-square-foot single-family home. Sitting on a 1.38 acre lot, the home offers ample privacy.

Interiors of the contemporary pad feature tiled and marble flooring, high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass windows that offer panoramic views of the city. The spacious rooms all boast of an open floor-plan.

There is a wrap-around deck, a huge wine-cellar, two garages and a large motor court as well.

Los Altos is no stranger to tech tycoons. Apple founder Steve Jobs grew up in the area. More recently, his childhood home where he built the first Apple computer with Steve Wozniak in the garage, was designated a 'Historic Resource.'

Ellen Hancock bid goodbye to a 29-year career at IBM in 1995 after a management shakeup. She was the senior vice president of network hardware and software when she left. She joined Apple about two years later to serve as chief technology officer but that post was short-lived too.

In 1998, Hancock became CEO of Exodus Communications. "Under Hancock, Exodus' revenue saw a nearly fivefold increase to $242.1 million in fiscal 1999 from $52.7 million in 1998, and is on pace to double this year. In the process, the company has grown to become the top Web hosting company in the world," reports Forbes.
