Derek Lam, the famous California-based fashion designer, has reportedly sold his condo in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City for $5.25 million. He had listed it for $6 million in March last year.
Lam and his partner, Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann, who serves as the CEO of Derek Lam international, purchased the property in 2011 for $4.6 million. According to the New York Post, Henry Josh Goldsmith is the buyer of the residence.
The double floor condo is located on the fifth floor of the Mercer Greene Building, which gives access to both Mercer Street and Green Street. Its location is attractive for its close proximity to the best shopping, restaurant and fitness facilities.
The home spreads across an area of 2,200 square feet and features 12-foot ceilings and hardwood flooring. The residence has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Floor plans reveal that the main level can be accessed by a private elevator opening into the formal living/dining room. A kitchen lies adjacent to the living room. A narrow corridor leads to a slightly lowered unit comprised of two bedrooms and bathrooms.
The upper level consists of a library and a huge master suite that has massive walk-in closets and an attached modern bathroom with a spa like tub.
The building itself offers luxury amenities that requires a monthly maintenance fee. The building has been home to many other celebrities. Apparently, Rihanna was renting a condo unit for around $18,000 a month, reports The Real deal.

Lam is a renowned fashion designer. While he sold off his condo in the SoHo area, he will soon be opening a flagship store for his new 10 Crosby diffusion line. The store will be located at "115 Mercer Street, between Prince Street and Spring Street, and will boast a 2,200 square foot space," according to Fashion Times.
"Stemming from the success of the line with our wholesale partners in the U.S., we felt that now was the appropriate time to further extend the reach of 10 Crosby Derek Lam in a location that fits both the customer and the brand," CEO Schlottmann told the website.
Lam is not just a talented fashion designer but an interior designer too. He designed the green room for the Emmy Awards in 2012. Lam reportedly collaborated with Audi on the design, which had LED light displays that were inspired by the auto company's headlights!
