Peter Jackson Hints At Directing An Episode of 'Doctor Who', Will He Do It?

The "Lord of the Rings" and the "Hobbit" director, Peter Jackson may be set to direct the upcoming episode of "Doctor Who". The hint of directing the series came out after the release of the teasing video featuring a short appearance of the stars from the series, Timelord and Dalek pestering him to sign up for the gig.

According to the video posted in the director's Facebook page, Peter Jackson is polishing his Oscars statues with a copy of JRR Tolkien's book, The Silmarillion, when his daughter, Katie informed him that "Doctor Who" showrunner Steven Moffat sent him an email again.

Jackson told his daughter that producer Steven Moffat is always contacting him. Here's the full conversation they had in the video from The Guardian.

"Hey dad, Steven Moffat's trying to email you," Katie says in the video, as Jackson polishes his Oscars statues.

"He's always emailing me," Jackson responds.

"Put it this way. I reply to the ones I can understand, but some are a bit incoherent, you know, like his scripts. I mean, there are great ones and they're ones that are ... [Jackson pauses for effect] ... not great."

Jackson said he might consider a six-month shoot in New Zealand, not a 12-day production that Moffat was requesting in Cardiff. In the last part of the video, Peter Capaldi, the Timelord from the series enters the door wearing his full costume. He was carrying an envelope that contains a contract from Moffat and the BBC.

Jackson has worked with Moffat on the movie "The Adventures of Tintin" in 2011 which he produced. He is also a fan of the long - running British sci - fi show. According to the report in CNET, the director might also set to launch his next project which is a Tintin sequel.

With the release of the video, Doctor Who fans were left fantasizing over the possibility that the award-winning director will direct the episode of their favorite show.
