Bernie Taupin lists Santa Ynez Valley ranch for $5.95 million

Bernie Taupin, the famous lyricist who often records with Sir Elton John is reportedly selling his Santa Ynez, Calif., ranch for $5.95 million.

Officially called "The Roundup Ranch", the estate is a 28 plus acre area, surrounded by panoramic views of the mountain and hill ranges. The estate has two residences:

-          The main house: a Mediterranean style, single-family home has five bedrooms and six bathrooms spanning across an area of 5,000 square feet.

-          The secondary house: a 2,000-square-foot, two bed-one and a half bath residence.

The main house is done up with exquisite style. Beamed wooden ceilings, hardwood floorings, wood-framed floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors make up the interiors. The home offers easy indoor-outdoor flow. There is a studio in the house where Taupin and Sir Elton John recorded several albums.

The secondary home has a den and is located adjacent to the equestrian facility of the estate. The equestrian facility has a covered arena, a 10-stall horse barn, a round pen,  two storage buildings and 10 covered box stalls.

The estate also offers large rolling greens and has a pond as well. There is a swimming pool at the main residence. A gym and ample parking space is also available.

The listing claims that the location of the ranch is perfect.

"Roundup Valley Ranch is located in both Oak Trail Estates AND in the Woodstock Ranches area of the Santa Ynez Valley and benefits from an extensive riding trail system, reasonable water costs, while only being minutes to the restaurants and services of the Santa Ynez and Los Olivos areas."

Carey Kendall of Village Properties is representing the estate.

Taupin purchased the property about 11 years ago. He lived there with his wife and two children.

"I wanted to be a cowboy. I wanted to really just bury myself in that whole lifestyle, not as a plaything. If you live in this area, you're going to grow grapes or raise horses or cattle. You don't come here for any other reason," he told The Telegraph about the property in a 2013 interview.
