The giants in today's rap scene is threatened by the rise of a new rap icon. With a hashtag that has been tweeted more than 150,000 times, the road to fame is not impossible.
The internet goes for another round of crazy hashtags on Twitter. Not even the Pontiff was spared from the internet user's wit and sense of humor. The new hashtag is inspired by a candid photo of Pope Francis.
This photo was taken from the pope's African tour stopover in Bangui, capital city of the Central African Republic. He also did stopovers in other African nations like Kenya and Uganda.
The hashtag #PopeBars spread like wildfire. After the twitter community made hilarious rap memes of the pope holding a microphone with a gesture that resembles that of a rapper, head leaning on one side and left hand stretched to the audience.
The humor comes from the captions that people post with it. Users even improvised with famous rap lines from songs like "Big Poppa" by Notorious B.I.G. and "Hotline Bling" by Drake.
According to Vibe, the twitter community even took the #PopeBar craze to the next level by posting made up album covers for the pope's make believe album.
The twitter hashtags would hopefully bring attention and awareness to the issue of the violence between Christian and Muslims in Africa that has been going on for three years already.
The visit in the African continent was a first time for the Pope. It lasted for six days with a very warm welcome coming from devotees. In his visit, the pope spoke about Christian and Muslim camaraderie.
Three years prior to the Pope's visit, there has been a heightened rivalry among Christian and Muslims in the African Continent. "Christians and Muslims are brothers and sisters", the Pope shared to the Muslim refugees in the CAR capital, Bangui.
