Samsung Company recently announced their web browser which will be optimized for Gear VR. The web browser known as Samsung Internet for Gear VR is considered as the latest virtual reality service together with a strengthened VR content system.
"As a pioneer in the mobile VR industry, Samsung has continually worked to provide our users with a fully immersive mobile experience in the evolving world of virtual reality. As the demand for 360-degree, immersive video content rapidly rises, Samsung Internet for Gear VR further enriches the VR content ecosystem for our consumers, setting an industry standard for the VR viewing experience," Samsung VP Chan-Woo Park said during the launching.
What does it Offer?
Samsung Internet for Gear VR app allows users to browse the web and enjoy immersing themselves to the different content without having difficulties in downloading it on their smartphones.
The newly launched browser contains a "Gaze Mode" that let its users choose menus by just looking at them. There is no need for them to tap on the touchpad or controller to do some activities. According to the Tech Crunch, it can also import and manage Yahoo, Google, Facebook, YouTube, and bookmarks from the mobile browser.
Samsung also mentioned that the new Gear VR web browser beta supports 360-degree, D video streaming, and HTML5 video. They consider the new app as a significant step for consumerization of virtual reality. People nowadays use browsers to search for information and entertainment before they visit Netflix for movies and app stores.
The Samsung Internet for Gear VR beta version is already available on the Oculus Store with its supported Samsung devices such as Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note5 with Gear VR.
