Yolanda and David Foster's divorce announcement was a shock to everyone. The A-list couple, who got married in 2011 in a fairy-tale wedding ceremony, ended their romance after four years of marriage.
According to their mutual statement, the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star, 51, and the record producer, 66, did their best to save their marriage. According to several news outlets, David's hectic schedules and Yolanda's battle with Lyme disease had strained their relationship. Yolanda and David's divorce comes after the couple was seen attending a gala for Lyme Disease last month.
Yolanda and David's divorce statement reads, "Sadly we have decided to go our separate ways. We've shared 9 beautiful and joyous years together. During that time we experienced love, friendship and the inevitable challenges that come with managing a marriage, careers, blended families and health issues," according to People.
Us Weekly reports that Yolanda and David's divorce was centered on the former's illness. As the 16-time Grammy award winner travel the whole world to promote his music, Yolanda was confined in her bedroom. The mother of models Gigi and Bella Hadid reportedly felt that she's alone battling her sickness while he's out. She felt that he wasn't there for her during the time that she needed him most. Her illness had consumed their relationship after they discovered that she had Lyme disease in 2012.
"David is always off traveling the world for work and Yolanda's entire life has become her bedroom," a source said. "She has basically been sick since they first got married. It definitely took a huge toll on the marriage."
Yolanda was first married to real estate entrepreneur, Mohamed Hadid, from 1994 to 2000. She shares three children with him, including Gigi, 20, and Bella, 19, and a son Anwar, 16. David's marriage with Yolanda is his fourth after tying the knot with Linda Thompson, Rebecca Dyer, and B.J. Cook. He is a father of five daughters.
A month ago, before Yolanda and David's divorce announcement, the 51-year-old shared a photo of herself and her husband with a beautiful sunset background and captioned it with, "Beautiful ending to a beautiful chapter of our life...... Colorful memories of Love, Life and Family will live within our hearts forever."
