Asante Samuel, the NFL star, has reportedly listed his custom-built home in Southwest Ranches, Florida, for $12.9 million.
Samuel commissioned the building's construction in 2008, just after he signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, reports the Realtor Blog. He started his NFL career with the New England Patriots, moved on to the Philadelphia Eagles and last played for the Atlanta Falcons. He is now a free agent.
The Falcons recently announced that they had dumped Samuel. The cornerback was to receive a $3.5 million base salary if he were to stay on. As he departs from the team, he is also willing to bid goodbye to his giant mansion.
The residence is a 14,983 square-foot, single-family home. Comprised of nine bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, the giant two-storey, double-winged house has glass floor-to-ceiling windows, marble and hardwood flooring and mixed drywall, tray and high beamed ceilings.
The home is laden with luxury amenities like double marble staircases in the foyer, a formal living area, a modern kitchen and a media room. There is an office in the residence too. Outside, the house has a giant pool, which is about 13-foot deep with slide-features and "swim-in grotto." A 10-car garage is also part of the property.
The listing claims that it took five years to construct the home and is now completely "move-in" ready.
When Samuel was a rookie in 2003, he and his mother Christine lived in a hotel room due to tight finances. When the New England Patriots won the super-bowl, Samuel used the paycheck to buy his mother a condo!
Samuel's mother passed away in January, last year. Talking about her lovingly, Samuel said in an interview earlier: "She's definitely the inspiration for me playing football and I always want to go out there and make her proud."
