Season 20 premiere of "The Bachelor" airs Jan. 4 on ABC. One real estate executive is no stranger to that reality TV show but he doesn't watch it.
Jake Pavelka, vice president of Dallas-based E Smith Realty Partners, has appeared in Season 14 if "The Bachelor." Speaking of the show he told NMP, "I typically don't have time to watch," explained and the star of Season 14 of "The Bachelor." "It's like Breaking Bad-once you're into it, you're in it. It's a great story line, but I don't follow it too closely."
According to NMP, not only has Pavelka appeared in Season 14 of "The Bachelor," he has also guest starred on "The Bachelorette." He has also made appearances on "Dancing With the Stars" and "The Bold and the Beautiful." But he explained that he was a real estate professional before he got into reality TV.
"I've been doing real estate development for 12 years," he narrates. But he admits that his celebrity status sometimes, though rarely, invades into his commercial real estate career. He describes, "It comes up occasionally-if a client says, 'My gosh, was that a fun show!' But my partnership with ABC does not sway them one way or the other."
According to NMP, he has set those TV days aside as he had shifted a lot of focus into retail sector, which he believes is "on fire." Speaking about the market he said, "This market is incredibly busy," Pavelka said. "There are a lot of retailers expanding and opening new locations."
"Yes, part of the shopping experience, especially around the holidays, is the convenience of going online," Pavelka said. "But a lot of people like to share the experience of going into the mall to touch and put on clothing. You can't try things on at Amazon-at least not yet."
