The United Nations Children's Fund or UNICEF has named Pink as one of its ambassadors to help fight malnutrition.
The pop star recently visited Haiti and experienced the problems first hand. During the trip with UNICEF, they distributed food packs to those in need. They also made efforts to raise money for nutritional, vitamin-rich peanut paste that will be distributed to children.
According to Billboard, Pink said in a phone interview, "I got to watch mommas learning how to feed it to their kids and within a week, you can see the difference in these children. It brings them back to life. It's amazing. To be able to take this trip with Unicef in Haiti is everything. You can read about stuff and you can watch stuff on the news, but to be able to see the kids and spend time with these beautiful little ones and see what's going on first hand is - it's inspiring and motivational and it just makes it more real."
Pink has been promoting UNICEF's Kid Power Band, a kid-friendly fitness band which encourages kids to do exercises to get points with the use of an interactive app. These points are then converted into funds for the food packs that will be sent by UNICEF's partners like Target, Disney and Star Wars: Force for Change.
As reported by A List, the Grammy Award winner visited six locations in Port-au-Prince. This includes the Clinique Communautaire health clinic, the neo-natal unit at the Haiti State University, a primary school, and a youth centre. She mentioned that the feelings she felt are all universal. "We all want to be loved, we all want be safe, we all want to be protected. We want to have faith in our world. We want to know that things can be good. Just because you're born in a certain place doesn't mean that you shouldn't have the same rights as every other child," Pink stated.
Actress Audrey Hepburn, Sarah Jessica Parker, actor Laurence Fishburne, and singer Selena Gomez, have also served this role.
