‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 News, Update: Show To Be Canceled? Nina Dobrev Badly Needed to Turn Up Ratings

In the start of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7, many speculate how the show will go on without Nina Dobrev portraying one of the main characters. It was evident that the CW vampire series became crafty in their storyline to conceal scenes that will portray Dobrev's character Elena Gilbert. Although the show moved on even if Dobrev wasn't in the cast lineup, news now is breaking that TVD is not turning up good numbers for its ratings and might not renew for an eighth season or worst get immediately cancelled from its seventh season run.

According to the Australian Network News, CW's show "The Vampire Diaries" is now feared to be on the end of the line as the viewership ratings of the show dropped to 33%. Aside from this huge drop, the network also moved "The Vampire Diaries" timeslot to Fri. starting Jan 2016 which according to the outlet is a "death sentence" for any show.

Probing more on this news is CDL's report regarding the show's current standing and the controversies regarding the cast specifically Ian Somerhalder's "diva" attitude after Dobrev's departure.

"Ratings dropped by 33% with the season 7 return of 'The Vampire Diaries.' Ian Somerhalder might be going into panic mode as the show appears to be sinking."

"'Bones' is faring well on Friday, but it's hard not to notice that Nina Dobrev's departure from the show has caused problems for 'The Vampire Diaries.' The cast is reportedly growing tired of Ian Somerhalder hogging the spotlight now that Nina is out of the picture," based from the outlet.

While one option addressed to heed on the low ratings is Dobrev's comeback on "The Vampire Diaries" which is not clear on sight and that the 26-year-old actress cleared on her recent interview that her time on the CW drama is already over.

Apart from the issues that the show is facing, co-showrunner Julie Plec and the team behind TVD series are working hard to create more stories to drawn in the interest of the audience.

"Right now I feel like we're in a really good creative groove. The show feels really good, and we all as writers, and the actors, are really jazzed about the content and excited about the stories that we're telling," Plec said from WetPaint.
