Katharine Hepburn’s Connecticut home returns to the market for $14.8 million (VIDEO)

The former home of legendary actress Katharine Hepburn in Fenwick, Connecticut, has reportedly hit the market for an asking price of $14 million.

The house has been on and off the market several times. First listed in 2011, with two adjacent parcels, the house was priced at $28 million. In 2012, the cost was upped to $30 million. However, owner Frank J. Sciame took it off the market after failing to sell it.

"I'm not going to sell it for less than the asking price," he told The Courant at that time.

However, over the years, he seems to have changed his mind. Currently, only one parcel - the one with Hepburn's home on it - is up for sale. Talking about his new strategy, Sciame told The Wall Street Journal:

"The best return on investment is to sell the properties separately."

Sciame and his wife purchased the home in 2004 for $6 million, just a year after Hepburn's death. The residence is now completely renovated. It has also been raised 5.5 feet because water from the private beach (during a high tide) would flood the house.

The shore-front home was Hepburn's main residence. While she did own a condo in New York City too, this residence was where she really felt at home and her family used it as a "summer retreat."

''Her home in New York was more for business,'' said Erik Hanson, an executor of Hepburn's estate, to the New York Times in a 2003 interview. ''But, it was Fenwick that was home.''

Currently, the listing of the residence lies with Colette Harron of William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty. If it manages to sell at the current asking price, it would set a record in the area for being the most expensive home sale.

The residence is 8,300 square feet, single-family home - comprising of six bedrooms and seven full and one half bathrooms. Interiors feature French windows and large glass doors, drywall ceilings and hardwood flooring. Outside, the house has several decks, a moor and ample recreation area.
