Slava Voynov, the defense man for ice hockey team "Los Angeles Kings", has reportedly dropped $2.6 million on a designer home in Redondo Beach, Calif.
The Los Angeles Times broke the news of the sale. The home is reportedly a modern contemporary pad, sitting on a 6,000-square feet narrow lot. The publication does not reveal much detail about the house except that it was designed by Michael lee Architects.
It also notes that the two-storey house has floor-to-ceiling glass windows and an "overall modern aesthetic." Living features include a modern chef's kitchen and separate dining and drawing rooms.
Voynov was drafted by Los Angeles Kings in 2008. He signed a $25 million contract with the Kings last season. The player started off young. Talking about his draft, Kings general manager Dean Lombardi said in an earlier interview with Sports Illustrated:
"Before his draft, we talked to him and his agent and we said, 'OK, if we take you, you have to come to North America. When he came into camp, we clearly felt he was ready for the American League. And that is a very hard league to play in, particularly for a defenseman. It's more scrambly and it's physical, and he [was] an 18-year-old. As the junior rules worked, he did not have to be assigned to his junior team because he was drafted out of Russia."
Of late Voynov has not been performing too well. They beat Chicago in the western final, Voynov managed to score an early goal, reports Global News.
However, experts remain optimistic about his performance.
"Judging a defenseman solely on his offensive productivity is like judging an MLB player solely on his power numbers. While they're flashy and in some ways reflective of the player's productivity they do not tell the whole story," Rant Sports writes about Voynov.
"His defensive play has been better than his -1 reflects and his offensive play has been fine but hasn't resulted in points. When the floodgates open they will open wide and Voynov's play will help the Kings even more than it has already," the website supported.
