NBA Rumors: LA Lakers Sticking with Byron Scott, Lakers 'Embracing Tanking'

If you are a Lakers fan you might have just asked yourself what on earth is happening to your team. With a current 3-15 standing and at the bottom of the Western conference ranking, it would seem that a major change is needed for this team to move a notch higher this season. In connection to this change, a call to replace Lakers head coach, Byron Scott, has been surfacing the internet. However, despite the seen shortcomings of Scott, the Lakers is still seemed to be on his side. As reported by sircharlesincharge, Scott stated that

"Scott said he still senses support from Kupchak and Lakers executive vice president of basketball personnel Jim Buss. Scott is in the second-year of a four-year contract worth $17 million, with a team option for the final season."

The statement of Byron Scott may seemed to be true, for despite losing 15 games of their 18 matches, the Lakers management is still sticking to the head coach. There are no direct statement questioning the ranking and performance of the team and their current coach. It seems like the the Lakers are deliberately losing each game, thus suggesting that the team may perhaps be "embracing tanking." Sircharlesincharge reported that, "the Los Angeles Lakers have publicly made it clear that they plan on tanking this season. Well, they didn't exactly say it verbatim, but the fact that they continue to stand by Byron Scott suggests that they don't have any interest in winning many games this season."

Whatever the reason behind the losing streak of Lakers, and the failure of the team. It is still undeniable that the coach has something to do about his team's performance. However it seems like changes in the coaching staff and method would seem be far from being actualized. Via USA Today, it was reported that;

"While there's a never-say-never qualifier to the notion that coach Byron Scott could be replaced midseason, it appears for now that he won't be held responsible for either the dreadful record or the fruitless way in which Bryant continues to play. The coaching component, it should be noted, could always change if this losing streak (currently seven games) grew too big to bear."

This would now lead you to question, is losing a new part of Lakers strategy?
