'Switched At Birth' Season 5 Spoilers: Showrunner Confirms Episode 1 Title; Bay & Daphne Receive A Call That Will Change Their Lives

"Switched at Birth" Season 5 will premiere early next year, and the first episode for the season has just been revealed.

Series creator Lizzy Weiss shared a photo of the first episode's script via her Twitter account. It was confirmed that Season 5 episode 1 is titled "The Call."

In the Season 4 finale episode of the hit ABC Family series, Bay (Vanessa Marano) received a call from an unknown character. At that time, she and Daphne (Katie Leclerc) were in China. Upon receiving the call, Bay immediately left the tattoo parlor and searched for Daphne. When she finally saw her, Bay told Daphne that they both need to go back home to the United States.

"And so the journey begins..." Weiss captioned the photo.

Meanwhile, Weiss recently spoke with The Wrap to say that not everything has been ironed out for Season 5. After all, the series ended on a relatively high note. Not only did the once rich Kennishes struggle with their finances, Toby (Lucas Grabeel) and Lily (Rachel Shenton) also gave birth to their first child who has Down syndrome.

Bay and Daphne also experienced multiple relationship issues throughout Season 4, and Weiss acknowledged the fact that it may be difficult to top these storylines.

"Not everything is fleshed out, but there is a general plan. We had a million ideas for what the cliffhanger would be, and we may still use a couple of them," she said.

Weiss also talked about Toby and Lily's child and said that the trio's journey is just starting.

"It was just important that we end the first part of that journey. On the other hand, you're just beginning the journey. That is a really beautiful moment, and one of my favorites, not just in the episode, but in the series," she said.

"Switched at Birth" Season 5 will premiere on ABC Family sometime next year.
