Fans were in for a thrilling ride as the latest episode of "American Horror Story: Hotel" dished out interesting plot twists. As of the latest episode, it was finally revealed who the killer was.
December 3's episode unfolded the identity of the 10 Commandments serial killer. It was the detective that's been trying to haunt the killer down. John Lowe [portrayed by Wes Bentley] was revealed as the killer as he has been manipulated by James March [portrayed by Evan Peters.]
During a chat with Wes Bentley, he told E! that the episode isn't supposed to be a big reveal.
"The Shining is my favorite movie of all time and at it's core it's about an alcoholic and the two sides of an alcoholic father. You kind of start to get a sense of 'Oh no, something's not good. He's a danger to those around him.' And that's the same sense here. It wasn't necessarily a completely jarring surprise like The Usual Suspects, were you're like 'OH MY GOD.' It was more of the desperation of the mental breakdown, and the slow reveal of who this person really is."
It was then added that John Lowe [Wes] was fully aware that he was the killer all along. During the interview he stated that he was already told that he would be the killer, he however didn't tell anyone about the plot twists.
"First he was texting me back and then he stopped texting me and he called me a day later and said, 'OK, listen, I wasn't going to do this and don't tell anybody else that I told you this, but I gotta tell you: You're the guy. Now I don't want you to play it. I just want you to know it so that when moments come up, you'll just subconsciously play it. So it will be good for the show when people know and they look back on it.'
After losing his son, Lowe began living a double life up to a point when he eventually got tired. In one of the flashbacks, it was shown that he tried to kill himself though a hanging, but March cut him down. The episode ended with Sally, living in fear that she might eventually lose Lowe.
