Celebrity Real Estate: Jerry Seinfeld Announced to Hold a Monthly Residency at the Beacon Theatre in Manhattan

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld announced Tuesday that he will have a monthly show at the Beacon Theatre starting Jan. 7. After watching a regular performance of Billy Joel at the Madison Square Garden, the comic was inspired to pursue a regular show.

"I thought this is a really unique moment to see a guy [Joel] who comes from this area and builds his career - a career kind of comes from the culture that you grew up in," the comedian said onstage at the 2,800-seat Beacon Theatre on Tuesday, as reported by the New York Post.

He added, "I feel like New York and Long Island is kind of what gave me the perspective to do what I do."

Seinfeld bought Joel's 11-acre estate in Amagansett, LI for $32 million, more than a decade ago.

The "Jerry Seinfeld: The Homestand" show at the Beacon Theatre is scheduled on Jan. 7, Feb. 18, March 2, April 14, May 5, and June 8.

According to the report of Forward, Jerry Seinfeld, the co-creator of the Emmy-winning "Seinfeld," a favorite comedy series in the 90s "about nothing," will be performing regularly at the Beacon Theatre from January through June 2016.

After seeing singer Billy Joel regularly perform at the Madison Square Garden, it inspired Jerry Seinfeld to also do a show called "Jerry Seinfeld: The Homestand" at the Beacon Theatre.

"My favorite theater in New York to perform in has always been The Beacon. Comedians live for certain houses that just feel 'alive' for some reason," the comedian said in a statement. "The Beacon is that place for me and I am so excited to make it my new home."

The 61-year-old Seinfeld is residing in the neighborhood of Upper West Side, where the 2,800 seat Beacon Theatre stands.

When "Seinfeld" wrapped up in 1998, the comedian, actor and writer launched a web series called "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee," where he interviewed other comic actors.

Tickets for the show range from $79 to $175, and will be available for sale on Dec. 7.
