"Orange Is The New Black" star Dascha Polanco has been accused of assault by a teenager.
According to Hollywood Life, 17-year-old Michelle Cardona claimed that Polanco punched her and pulled her hair and said that the assault took place last July 29 in the Upper Manhattan home of the actress.
Based from the court documents obtained by Page Six, "Ms. Cardona observed the defendant strike Ms. Cardona about the face and head with a closed fist at least three times, pull Ms. Cardona's hair, and strike Ms. Cardona's arms with the defendant's hands and nails."
It is not known what really went wrong before the attack happened, but the cops said that Polanco invited Cardona to her apartment via a text message.
The police also said that Cardona was hospitalized due to the "bruising and redness to her face, scratches to her arms, and substantial pain."
PEOPLE confirmed that Dascha appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court last Thursday, on the day of her 33rd birthday, to face four counts of assault and harassment filed against her by Cardona.
Polanco did not give any comment regarding the case but her lawyer, Gerald Lefcourt, said that her client was set up and Cardona is just after the money.
Lefcourt said, "It's a setup to try to get money and it was tape-recorded," and added that "This young woman was trying to extort her to drop the case. We're confident the charges will be dismissed."
Meanwhile, Polanco is known for her character as Dayanara Diaz in "Orange Is The New Black" who is an inmate at Litchfield Penitentiary because of drugs. Is it also possible that in real life Polanco will end up in jail because of the criminal case she is facing now?
It has been reported that Polanco's next court appearance is in January 2016.
