"Arrow" and "The Flash" just capped off their separate episodes for the annual crossover event in The CW.
The two superhero series introduced new characters and plotlines from the new DC spinoff series "Legends of Tomorrow," which will premiere on Jan. 21, 2016.
According to Variety, executive producers Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim, Wendy Mericle and DC Comics CEO Geoff Johns joined a panel discussion about the aftermath of the two special episodes.
"The Flash" Season 2 Episode 8 "Legends of Today" aired on Dec. 2 while "Arrow" Season 4 Episode 8 "Legends of Yesterday" aired on Dec. 3.
Both "Legends of Today" and "Legends of Yesterday" featured the arrival of Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) in Sterling City. Oliver Queen/Arrow (Stephen Amell) and Barry Allen/Flash (Grant Gustin) worked together again to save their allies, Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) and Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) from Savage's wrath.
In the two-part crossover event, Arrow and Flash defeated Savage by using the Staff of Horus on Savage. In the end, Savage evaporated into thin air.
Savage's revival
Berlanti said that the Savage storyline will be part of the storyline of "Legends of Tomorrow." The two episodes ended as Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) decided to collect the villain's ashes.
"But we're not done with the seasons on those two shows yet so I don't want to say we won't come up with some kind of way to reference it," Berlanti said.
Oliver's secret son
One of the biggest revelations was that Oliver had a son with a former girlfriend. He decided to keep it a secret from his current girlfriend, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards).
Mericle shared that the secret son arc will be elaborated in the future "Arrow" episodes. It will show the consequences that Oliver and Felicity might face because of it.
Connor Hawke character
Kreisberg, on the other hand, elaborated their decision to provide a different name for Oliver's son. In the "Arrow" series, Hawke's name was replaced with "William Clayton."
Kreisberg added, "There are some things that happen when you do a show for a long time that are just happy accidents and then there are other things that you plan on and this is one that we really planned on.”
The producer also noted that they wanted to introduce Connor without tying him down as a young kid. He considered the decision as one of the biggest decisions that they are all proud of.
Will Barry's time-travel affect the entire "Arrow" and "The Flash" timeline?
The two episodes also featured his time-travelling stint between the present and the future. This was the key in saving everyone and defeating Savage.
It was said that his previous attempts resulted in various grave consequences. Then, the TV producers reminded everyone that they have to watch the upcoming "Arrow" and "The Flash" episodes for more information.
"The Flash" airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. and "Arrow" airs every Wednesday at 8 p.m. on The CW.
