Former Home of Betty Grable Hits Market for $13.29 Million

A former Bel Air residence of Betty Grable, the famous "How to Marry a Millionaire" actress, has hit the listing market for $13.29 million.

The Wall Street Journal broke the news of the listing. Grable reportedly resided there until the early 1940s. Current owner Schuyler Moore told the publication that he purchased it in 2011 for $7.05 million. After purchasing it, he made several changes to the estate - adding a deck, a putting green and renovating the children's playhouse.

The home was, however, redone by the previous owner, who added a swimming pool, waterfall features, sound systems, skylights and other modern amenities to the 1930-built residence.

Moore also added that he was selling the place because his wife just passed away and there were too many memories of her in the house. He is apparently shifting to another home which he has almost closed on.

Alphonso Lascano and Bjorn Farrugia of Hilton and Hyland are the listing agents of the residence. According to the records, the home is a 8,851-square-feet single-family home that has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

Interiors feature tiled and hardwood flooring, high beamed tray ceilings and huge French doors and windows. Living spaces include large seating areas, a formal dining place, a library, a family room and an updated kitchen. The master suite is an expansive room with an en-suite spa-like bathroom that also has a soaking tub.

Outside, the home has putting greens, a lap pool and a playhouse. There are ample recreation areas as well.

The listing describes the place as a "Romantic Hollywood Classic." Check out some photos of the home here.

While one former home of Betty Grable's is up for grabs, another Palm Springs estate that the actress once called home can be rented for short stays. The residence - "The Betty Grable Estate" - is a five bedroom-six bathroom space that is rentable for $4,500 a week or $13,500 a month.

Grable lived in several homes throughout her stardom. Michael Levitt, a close friend of Betty's, told Shel Dorf in an interview about his first meeting with her. She apparently gave him her address too. An excerpt:

SD: Did she give you her address?

ML: Oh, yeah.

SD: I remember the studio address: 20th Century Fox, Box 900, Beverly Hills.

ML: It was 1800 Coldwater Canyon.

SD: Oh, you had her home address!

ML: Oh, yes, and then later it was 600 Doheny Drive. That house on Doheny is the one she later gave to her mother.
