"The Young and The Restless" spoilers tease that a ghost from the past is set to come back in Genoa City and it is none other than John Abbott. According to Soap She Knows, Jerry Douglas will resurrect his iconic role as John and he is set to appear on Dec. 16.
According to Soap Opera Spy, there are no particular details given regarding the brief return of John in Genoa City. But since Billy Abbott's character has already gone to the darker side, there are speculations coming from the social media that Billy will have a deep conversation with his father, John's ghost.
The major twist in Billy's character might have something to do with Burgess Jenkins' exit and "General Hospital's" Jason Thompson's take over of the character.
Douglas started playing the role of John in 1982 and he was one of the main characters in "The Young and The Restless" until he was officially killed off in 2006.
John's death was not given much emphasis. He just simply died because of stroke and his wife and kids said their final goodbyes and after that his life support was already removed. It has been reported that the writers of "Y&R" did not think that there is a need for John to comeback from the dead but now his ghost might play an important role in Billy's life.
Since John's death, he has appeared a couple of times in Genoa City as part of the flashbacks, as well as in ghost form as he visits his kids. Back in March, Soaps In Depth reported that Douglas, the Abbott patriarch, will make an appearance again in ghost form to add up some spice in the storylines of his children.
"The Young and the Restless" airs on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
