It is not yet set when "Vikings" Season 4 will air but there have been rumors about a main character that is set to be killed off in the series.
According to Crossmap, there have been talks that Travis Fimmel who portrays the character of King Ragnar Lothbrok will leave the show because he intends to focus his acting career on the big screen.
Back in April, Crave Online reported that Fimmel will soon be known to bigger audience when he stars as Anduin Lothar in the movie adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment's "World of Warcraft." However, it has been reported that the "Warcraft" movie is not the reason why he will leave "Vikings."
Meanwhile, according to Master Herald, "Vikings" Creator and Executive Producer Michael Hirst revealed that "he has always seen Vikings without Ragnar."
Hirst had realized that King Ragnar had many sons and it came to a point that his sons are more popular than him. With that, he can "perfectly envision a world without Ragnar" and just focus on his sons' adventures, particularly Bjorn who is played by Alexander Ludwig.
"Vikings" official Instagram page posted an interesting photo of Bjorn Ironside which could be a sign of the importance of his character in the upcoming season 4.
Travis also gave a few hints about "Vikings" future without him in his previous interviews during season 3 and said that "this was a year where they felt like they were trying to introduce other people."
Fimmel pointed out that the show was trying to man up other people for bigger roles in preparation for upcoming season 4.
While King Ragnar is set to exit in the upcoming season, there have been a few actors who were already cast to play on new roles. Peter Franzen will play Harald Finehair of Scandinavia, while Diane Doan will play as Yidu and Jasper Paakkonen will take on the role of Halfdan the Black.
Hirst is confident and optimistic that despite of Fimmel's departure, the show will still be able to stand strong with its storyline and the remaining cast, as well as the new casts, and will make it through in the upcoming "Vikings" Season 4.
