Real Estate News: Famous Australian Celebrities Who Made Multimillion-Dollar Moves By Selling Properties In 2015

Australia's most loved celebrities and their multimillion-dollar homes were featured as they are the hot property market in 2015. Their most glamorous homes were also considered home sweet homes.

First on the list is the couple's, Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton, grand Hunters Hill estate which was sold for $20 million last September. According to rumors, the two are planning to make a permanent move to US with their three children. Their historic sandstone manor was named, "Bulwarra" and re-designed by Nadine Alwill and Dr. Stephen Lesiuk.

This property was bought for $10 million, and contains five bedrooms, a grand wine cellar, tennis court, pool pavilion, guesthouse and direct access to the river. The entire house is around 3,642 square meter. Blanchett and Upton spent $8 million for the renovations alone.

Next is the former power couple -- James and Erica Packer -- property, mammoth Vaucluse mansion, La Mer for $70 million. According to News, the property off-market sale price was adjusted with a new Australian house price record.

After three years when it was constructed, the mansion was sold which was supposedly a matrimonial home for James and Erica Packer. However, it was just left empty for two years. Six years back, the couple got another three properties to create their own version of a castle.

The Packers bought the landmark Guildford Bell-designed residence for $18 million, and the two neighboring houses for $6.55 million and $5.5 million respectively. Combining the entire space allocated by these three properties, around 3,330 square meters. The couple actually spent $40 million for the entire rebuild, rumors said.

Last July, another power couple, Luhrmann and Martin sold their inner-Sydney mansion with $16 million price home. They also sold their home in 2013 for $15 million and another property for $10 million which was considered as a grand historic home bought in 2006.

From this year's listing, the fully renovated nine-bedroom Italianate residence with 2,716 square meters with seven bedrooms, two guest apartments, a temperature-controlled wine cellar, vast established grounds, wraparound verandas, a heated pool, spa, formal entertaining rooms, and wallpaper uniquely designed by Martin herself. This property is still listed and looking for a buyer.

News also included Gold Logie award-winning Hamish Blake and his wife, author Zoe Foster-Blake's property listed for sale this year. Their Fitzroy terrace house was on the market last August and quickly snapped for $2 million.

Blake paid $1.265 for the extensive renovations for the house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms three years ago. Zoe Blake's property -- Rowena Parade property -- worth $4.25 million was also listed last July.

Fifth on the list is the supposedly matrimonial home for the former couple Michelle Bridges, "The Biggest Loser" celebrity trainer, and her ex Bill Moore. The newly renovated Birchgove home was sold for $4.52 million earlier than the set schedule in September.

The entire renovation took two years before it was finished. The historic, 1870s-inspired sandstone home is measured 367 square meters with three bathrooms. The former couple bought this house for $2.35 million in 2011, but they just spent a lot on renovations.

Michael and Kyly Clarke's grand Southern Highlands estate lies on the sixth place in News property list. The couple sold their home for $6.5 million last March this year. They bought the house nearing Berrima and renovated at the same time in 2012.

This step of buying the 93-ha estate was made by the couple for Michael's dream to own his first cricket academy instead of having it for residence. Just this year, the Michael Clarke Cricket Academy was launched situated near the couple's home in Bellevue Hill.

The seventh on the list is fashion designer Collette Dinnigan's Paddington home which was listed for auction last May. The property was sold for $6.5 million according to records. The price earned a healthy profit from the price she paid when bought for $4.45 million in 2009.

She and her husband Bradley Cocks headed east this year and spent $7 million for a home in Watsons Bay, which was the former home of James Packer's right-hand man, Matthew Csidei.

The last but not the least multimillion dollar property sold this year is the celebrity landscape gardener Jamie Durie's Avalon Beach home sold for $3.8 million last March. The home was bought in 2003 for $1.3 million with 614 square meters. But it was demolished to reconstruct the new "whale-inspired" home through teaming up with architect Walter Barda.

The construction took three years with extraordinary outcomes. The newly furnished home now contains ultra-modern digs with a featured observation decks with the shape of a whale's stomach, adjoining zinc roof that looks like a whale's tail.

A lot of Australian celebrities' multimillion dollar properties were sold after unexpected life changes. Primary reason is divorce.
