NH Motor Speedway founder Bob Bahre Selling lakeside property for $49 million

Bob Bahre, the founder of New Hampshire Motor Speedway, is reportedly selling his lakeside estate in Alton, New Hampshire, for $49 million.

Bahre's large estate can be purchased as a whole or in parts. The property portfolio being offered is a main house, a secondary house and an entertainment barn. It can either be purchased for a complete $49 million or for $25 million (the main house and secondary house) and $24 million (for the entertainment barn) separately.

According to realtors at that price, the estate is the most expensive listing of New Hampshire. Set beside the Lake Winnipesaukee, Bahre built the estate 12 years ago. Now that he hardly runs the speedway, he and his family don't need the space anymore and feel it best to unload the properties.

"We loved the place, but of course we are biased. We have a place in Maine, in Naples (Florida), and St. Barth. And we sold the speedway, so we just don't need it anymore," Bahre told the New Hampshire Union Leader.

But at that lofty price, how many takers does he expect to attract? It doesn't matter. They will keep the place if it fails to find a buyer, Bahre added.

Claire Kristin of Landvest is representing the property. She, like other realtors, believes that this is the highest priced estate of the area. However, she admits that the place is magnificent.

"This property sets a new standard for lakefront living. In my 16 years of setting top sales in New Hampshire, I've never seen such a combination of location, site quality and amenities," Kristin told the publication.

According to the Realtor Blog, Bahre built the compound on a large piece of land that belonged to the Alton Boys Camp. The estate is named "Longview" for the uninterrupted scenic views it offers.

The main house is a 38,196-square-feet, single family residence with seven bedrooms and 10 full and six half bathrooms. Luxury amenities include a pub, a game room, a two-story ballroom with stunning staircases and a theater. A tea house is also included with this property.

The secondary home is a 24,833-square-feet single-family residence with five bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. This place has a library, a music room, a family room and stone terraces.

In 2004, another 7,000 square feet plus entertainment barn was added to the property, which has an amphitheater, a studio, a stone boathouse and more.
