He even posted on the social media saying that, "Today I'll be playing my 1000 #RegularSeason game & I wanna celebrate with you!" Indeed thee presence of Pau Gasol in the NBA really made an impact to the Euro Basket, and together with fellow NBA player, Dirk Nowitzki, the two of them are perhaps the top 2 European players ever.
The defensive prowess and offensive contribution of the Spanish player had captivated many teams in the NBA. He was even one of the key players who led the LA Lakers to their three-consecutive NBA Finals appearance. And finally winning two straight over Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic. With the significant contributions of Pau Gasol on every team that had been with, one cannot help but try to acquire his service. That is why with his impending free agency this summer, rumors of Gasol transferring to other teams has once again surfaced.
There are now reports saying that Gasol may try to test the market. According to csnchicago, Gasol "will "very likely" he'll opt-out of his contract this summer and test the market." With the possibility of Gasol going out for other team, it would likely that the Bulls would capitalize with the said scenario. The Bulls may opt to trade Gasol for some young players that you soon lead the team. Yibada suggested that Bulls may actually go for a trade with the Laker's young core. According to Yibada;
"The Lakers are reportedly considering to deal their young core of talents, including Jordan Clarkson, D'Angelo Russell, and Larry Nance Jr in the offseason next year for a star player, according to the Lakers Nation. The Bulls would be certainly interested to deal Gasol for Russell and Clarkson, who could become the team's top point guards if Derrick Rose also decides to explore offers from other team in his 2017 free agency."
However, it's still too early to anticipate a reunion between Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. There are still no indications that the Bulls would let go of their precious asset as they advance with their campaign. According to csnchicago, "No one from the Bulls seem to have given the indication they would merely let Gasol and his production walk out of the door without a fight...they'll make a hard push to retain his services."
