Avid fans and die-hard gamers of "Shovel Knight Amiibo" have something to celebrate about. This is after game developer Yacht Club Games has announced that a first third-party Amiibo figure is scheduled to be released in Europe in Dec. 11 and on Jan. 8, 2018 at North America. However, it was noted that "Shovel Knight" will not be included as part of roster of another popular game "Super Smash Bros," a report from iDigital Times said on Monday.
"[P]roduction difficulties forced us to choose between rushing to ship a tiny, insufficient number of Amiibo units before Christmas, or ship a good healthy supply of stock to North America just after Christmas. We've received hundreds of emails bemoaning the difficulty in finding some of your favorite Amiibo, racing for a preorder window, issues with scalpers, having trouble unlocking the new features you want to play; so, we made the decision to launch the Amiibo in January so there would be enough units available," Yacht Club said in a statement posted in its website.
According to the report, the "Shovel Knight Amiibo" figure will be sold at a retail price of $13. It was stressed that in terms of content, the third-party figure contains a lot of gameplay features. The game developer said that the Custom Knight can actually reach a maximum level of 50 which includes other new abilities. All these features and abilities can be applied to both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U console versions.
"By collecting treasure throughout the game, you can level up your Amiibo, allowing you to customize his look. There are also new relics, abilities, and powers to unlock which come in to play in the new Challenge mode. There are five new challenges for solo and co-op play each, the latter of which (like the co-op campaign) are exclusive to Wii U," Gamespot said.
