Transgender Teen Series 'I Am Jazz' Renewed For Season 2

TLC renews transgender docu-series "I Am Jazz" for another season.

Deadline reported that last Friday, TLC ordered for an eight-hour long episodes second season for "I Am Jazz," a reality show that focuses on the life of transgender teen, Jazz Jennings and her family.

"I Am Jazz" is a reality TV series that follows the life of a 15-year-old transgender as she tries to balance her family life, school, socializing with her friends, sports activities as well as dealing with her health issues and getting into the dating world.

In the show, Jazz is joined by her parents Greg and Jeanette, her sister Ari and twin brothers Griffen and Sander.

Back in July, Greg Jennings said, "We always felt that to capture the true essence of Jazz and a trans youth, to educate people on what it's like to raise a transgender child and to be transgender, you really had to see it on a more lengthy scope of time."

Aside from being a transgender advocate, Jazz also co-authored the book of the same title, "I Am Jazz." Jennings and her parents also started a non-profit foundation called "Transkids Purple Rainbow Foundation" which is devoted to support transgender teens and their families.

Given all of her achievement, Jennings was named as one of "The 25 Most Influential Teens " in 2014 and 2015 by Time.

Meanwhile, Gay Star News reported that last month Mount Horeb Primary Center in Wisconsin cancelled the reading of "I Am Jazz" after being threatened by a lawsuit. Jennings wrote a meaningful open letter which stated, "I have been sharing my story for almost a decade because I don't want anyone else to feel alone or scared."

Jennings added that "I hope that 'I Am Jazz' continues to open people's hearts by helping them to understand what it is like to be transgender. I am proud to see so many people support transgender students in Wisconsin."

"I Am Jazz" Season 2 is set to premiere in 2016.
