Fort Hood Family Housing Organizes an Open House for Military Retirees and DoD Civilians

Fort Hood Family Housing opened up 200 units for military retirees and Department of Defense civilians to rent.

In a report by kdhnews.com, Fort Hood Family Housing is the military family housing community at Fort Hood. They hosted an open house where more than 30 families attended and took a look of the model home. As the event progresses, guests continued to arrive to explore the home and the property. Warrior Way Exchange and Clear Creek Main Exchange gave the furniture being staged during the open house.

Fort Hood Family Housing project director Mack Quinney said "200 units in Venable Village will be available for rent to military retirees and DoD civilians. Availability of housing units is based on current occupancy, with first priority of housing for military family members and single soldiers."

He also added, "As we've continued to see the population of Fort Hood decline, we've had to adjust our mission."

Since August 2014, the rental units are being offered only to single soldiers but now, they have opened up their doors for the military retirees and Department of Defense civilians.

Quinney said that "The house is a nice size that you can maintain. It's in a military community, so if you're accustomed to that and that's what you like, it's a great deal."

According to the report, "select homes in the Venable Village community rent for $1,158, equivalent to the Basic Allowance for Housing for an Army sergeant with dependents. Monthly rent of the homes in Venable Village includes 24-hour emergency maintenance, trash and recycling removal, seasonal front and side lawn care and utilities up to an established baseline."

According to dvidshub.net, Venable Village boasts its pet- friendly community and use of community center amenities for resident events with no charge. Leases in the village differ and 12- month leases are also available in which a security deposit is needed.
