Celebrity Real Estate: The Manhattan Apartment of David LaChapelle Sells for $2.4M

The apartment of photographer David LaChapelle in Manhattan was sold for $2.46 million, according to city property records. Chloe Frances Squires is the new owner. The apartment is set in a townhouse located at 427 W. 21st Street.

The colorful co-op apartment first listed on the market in July, as exclusively reported by the Post at the time.

According to the New York Post news, the one bedroom and one bathroom apartment on a parlor level has a higher asking price because of its location, plus its great features like the hand-carved plaster moldings, a 12-foot ceiling, wood trims, custom cabinets, and three marble fireplaces.

The modern pad comes with a chef's kitchen and a private terrace which is great for entertaining guests.

Heather McDounough and Henry Hershkowitz of CORE are the listing brokers of the property.

When LaChapelle's West Chelsea home was placed on the market five months ago, the photographer, who has shot famous personalities like Madonna, MJ and Lady Gaga, has finally made a sale.

LaChapelle's cozy pad at 427 West 21st Street was sold for $2.46 million. The photographer made a profit for the property, as he paid for it with just $1.74 million in 2011. According to the Observer, LaChapelle decided to dispose of his pad because he is spending most of his time now in L.A. and Hawaii, where he owns 18 acres of forest land in the Maui Island, as reported by Core New York City news.

While the warmer East Coast and island climates are now often felt by LaChapelle, the new owner of his Chelsea pad should find his old place also comfortable, as he did in his former residence.

The home is airy and bright with 12-foot ceilings across the floor all throughout. As the apartment is situated on the parlor floor, there are also lots of incredible design details, such as hand-carved crown moldings, etched glass door inlays, French doors, medallion-wrapped light fixtures, and stained oak floors.

The one-bedroom home features a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, and is located along Chelsea's Seminary Block.
