After confirming that actress Megan Boone is pregnant with her first child, it was reported that the show has been able to incorporate her pregnancy in the storyline when "The Blacklist" season 3 returns next year.
Fashion & Style reported that the second part of "The Blacklist" season 3 has been confirmed to return on NBC on January 7, 2016 and fans should expect very bad things to happen to Boone's character Liz. It was reported that the synopsis for "The Blacklist" season 3 episode 9 reveal that Red (James Spader) finds a way to retrieve his "care package" while Liz is still in grave danger after she has been taken to custody. It was revealed that the "care package" that Red was about to retrieve was Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) who is also on a mission to free his ex-wife Liz of the allegations against her.
In the mid-season finale, Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) chose to arrest Liz thinking that he could put her to safety. It was reported that when the show returns, the viewers will see Ressler being torn as he is bound by his duties to arrest Liz but at the same time, hopes to make her safe as her friend. In an interview with executive producer Jon Bokenkamp, Tom will be working with Ressler and Red in order to save Liz.
International Business Times reported that because of Boone's pregnancy, she may be showing a bit of her baby bump when the show returns after its holiday break. Many reports reveal that there could be a possibility that Liz might be dead or pregnant when the show returns on January. Some speculated that the show will choose the latter since in the previous episodes, Liz was able to sneak out to meet Tom and it could be that the two slept together before she went on a run.
"The Blacklist" season 3 episode 9 is set to air on NBC on January 7, 2016.
