Apple to release another Apple TV version just a few months after the 4th generation has hit the stores? Surely, this is not good news for those who had just bought the box last October.
Digitimes reports that Apple is preparing for a newer version of the TV, and that it is expected to be much stronger and faster than the one released this year. According to a tip from Apple's Taiwanese supply chain, the 5th generation of the Apple TV might come into trial production late December, and go on full production early next year. Apple is allegedly planning to incorporate a new CPU for the next version of the box to maximize device's hardware performance, and include new features so that it doesn't only function as a set up box.
Last October, Digitaltrends reported that by early 2016, the latest Apple TV would be able to search, play and stream music with its Siri integration. This means that users do not need to type anything to be able to listen to their favorite songs. This feature makes the box an all in one media device for its consumers, but with an added expense as they need to subscribe to Apple music services to be able to stream the latest hits on their TV.
Some tech enthusiasts predict that this could play a huge part in Apple's Homekit smart home system, which allows users to control all their gadgets and appliances including lights and refrigerator, with just one device. Others say that this is merely the company's attempt to come close to other gaming devices like Xbox One or PS4.
Apple has yet to confirm the rumors about the next generation Apple TV. The company has always been heedful of releasing new products so making the 5th gen available just a few months after the last version is quite unlikely for the tech giant.
