Clayton Kershaw, the star pitcher for MLB team "Los Angeles Dodgers", reportedly purchased a condo in Florida for $1.95 million in January 2014.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the ace player dropped the "moolah" on the plush condo a tad bit before he signed the record-making $215 million extension contract with the Dodgers.
"It is an incredible privilege to be part of the Los Angeles Dodger organization for another seven years," Kershaw said in a statement after signing the contract. "L.A. has become a second home to me and my wife, and I'm excited for the opportunity to represent the city for a long time to come."
"Ellen (his wife) and I are excited to take an undeserved blessing and, Lord willing, make a difference in the lives of others. I'm humbled by this recognition and looking forward to a new season, and hopefully, a World Series championship for the city of Los Angeles," he added.
General Manager Ned Colletti said:
"There are great players and pitchers in the game. And then there are those who are truly special. Clayton is not only among the elite of this era, but the perspective he and Ellen bring to their lives in helping others is equally remarkable. We have been honored to have the Kershaws as part of the Dodger organization and we are honored to have them as a part of the Dodger family for years to come."
The Dodger's decision to invest in Kershaw has indeed proven great for the team. On Friday's game, Kershaw and teammate Matt Kemp led the Dodgers to a 4-3 victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks, reports SBNation.com.
Kershaw's new residence is a large apartment occupying the fifth floor of the Fernandina Beach high-rise building. The home features French interior décor with walnut-hardwood flooring. Spanning an area of 4,800-square-feet, the place has five bedrooms and six bathrooms.
Living space includes a spacious office. One complete wing is dedicated to the master suite.
