Interior design expert Shaynna Blaze's home located in the Melbourne suburb of Hawthorn is a living proof that even a designer guru, loves to include some personal and remarkable items in styling, a report from The Daily Telegraph said on Tuesday.
According to the report, Blaze's elegant home has a gigantic cherry wood table but recently she painted it black to achieve a modern and sharp look. It was said that it took her a decade to buy the table. Aside from the table, there's a beautiful aqua horse statue displayed in the lounge room.
Blaze said that such piece offers an elegant accent to compliment the whole aesthetic and classic style of her home. Insider her bedroom, which she considers her sacred space, boats some of the most valuable items she collected.
"My dad used to play cricket and he was the wicket keeper. He had this old round, silver counter - a clicker to keep track of the bowls. When he died, I found it among his things and kept it. It's a special reminder of him. I've got it placed on an art deco stand in my bedroom. When I walk in, I see it - it's not for show, it's private. That's how I like it," Blaze said as quoted in the report.
Blaze cites experimentation and adding personal touches to accommodate individual tastes as essential aspects to make a successful interior styling. She pointed out that it doesn't mean that a designer guru should limit the style based on what's the latest design trend.
She also stressed that importance of having a "point of difference" in styling. With this, she visits several places to look for design inspiration such as in Milan, Venice, New York, among others.
"Blank Canvas Guru Shaynna helps them find middle ground - she also guides and mentors them in their journey, offering practical advice and tips along the way. Shaynna understands the most successful homes - the dream homes, tick multiple boxes and it's the owners who hold the key," Lifestyle Australia said.
