PC Sales are Predicted to Fall For a Short While

Reports suggest that PC makers will continue to lose sales in 2016. An expected 10% decrease on worldwide PC shipments has been predicted in the last quarter of 2015.

What could have been the reason for this decrease in PC sales?

According to IDC, there are three major contributing factors to the PC sale's behavior - strong dollar, depressed commodity prices and existing inventory.

PC shipments have already experienced a 2.1% dive in 2014. Before that was a 9.8% drop in 2013 and 4% in 2012.

Because of the ever-growing market of mobile devices in the likes of smartphones and tablets, consumers have shifted their interests to buying the mobile devices that have the basic computing abilities that Persona Computers are able to perform.

Even during the release of Windows 10, the market still shows no signs of taking a "favorable turn." The new operating system, among some of its other objectives, aimed to encourage consumers to upgrade their hardware. But most of the users are still testing the waters and have no plans to fully commit to the Windows 10 upgrade because the new operating system is widely criticized for having numerous bugs.

On the brighter side, shipments are expected to stabilize before 2016 ends. The expected dales decline will also be short. IDC research VP Loren Loverde says, "The free upgrade to Windows 10 enables some users to postpone an upgrade a little, but not indefinitely." After the transition phase to the new Windows 10 operating system, shipments will definitely increase just like how it did after Microsoft ended its support to Windows XP.

Even with the rise of mobile devices like tablets and smartphones, IDC remains optimistic and says, "Despite the substantial shift in spending and usage models from PCs toward tablets and phones in recent years, very few people are giving up on their PC - they are just making it last longer." They are only waiting for the users to finally decide to upgrade not only their OS but their hardware as well to optimize the new Windows 10.
