'The Little Mermaid' Movie: Chloe Grace Moretz Won't Have Red Hair Portraying Ariel

Everyone's excited to see the new live action interpretation of Disney's "The Little Mermaid." However, fans might be disheartened to hear that the upcoming film won't be exactly the same as the original movie.

The "Kick-Ass" star Chloe Grace Moretz is slated to play the titular role, and recently revealed to Entertainment Tonight that "The Little Mermaid" will take on "a modern, revisionist tale."

"[We're] making it progressive for young women in this day and age," Chloe Grace Moretz told the media publication on Friday night at the KIIS-FM iHeartRadio Jingle Ball.

While the explanation seems very vague, Moretz was not only pertaining to the movie itself, but some changes towards Ariel's overall look.

According to Belfast Telegraph, Moretz elaborated: "Haha, no, [I'm not dyeing my hair]! I want red hair, [but] we're going after the Hans Christian Andersen novel, so I'll actually have blonde hair."

Although the upcoming film will be a far cry from the beloved original, Chloe shares that she's excited to bring life to Ariel and the new version of the Disney classic on the big screen.

She's probably as excited as everyone else! Moretz recalled the euphoria she felt when she first got the call that she's been cast as the titular hero, "When I got the call, I rolled the windows down in the car with my brother and we both screamed! [...] It was a very exciting moment!"

Filming has yet to begin, but Chloe Grace Moretz is already training herself for the challenging and pressure-filled role. She even shared a snap on her Instagram, where she seems to be practicing some moves for some mermaid moves.

Although "The Little Mermaid" doesn't have a release date yet, fans can still watch Chloe Grace Moretz on screen. She's got "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising" and another horror movie, "The 5th Wave" coming in the next few months.
