'Apple Watch' Tips, Guide: How To Replace Watch Band

The Apple Watch is one of the most talked about wearable released this year. Some call it premium, some just think it's too much for a smartwatch. But if you're one of the many people who were convinced to buy the device, here's a quick tutorial on how you can replace your Apple Watch band:

First up is removing the band. It is quite a simple thing to do as no tools is necessary to complete the task. All you need to do is flip the thing over and find the two tiny buttons sitting with the casing. Pressing one of which releases the band from that side, so just press each of the buttons to remove the band.

Next step is picking a band, and the most important thing to remember when doing this is that the Apple Watch bands come in different sizes. There are different designs for the 43 mm watches, and there are also a variety of designs for the 38 mm models. In purchasing a band, your instinct may tell you to head to the Apple Store and choose from their numerous products. Sure, there'll be official and original bands at the store, but keep in mind that they won't come in cheap prices. The low end sporty band costs $49, and it's a simple piece of rubber with a couple metal bits. Take note that the costs only goes higher from that point, there are more expensive choices that go from $349 to $449.

There are also third party band options. Right now, Mobile Fun, Expansys, and Amazon offer a wide selection of Apple Watch bands. If you want a sporty looking watch, the best thing to do is to use real leather on it, and you can get it for only around $30 - way cheaper than Apple's leather band that costs more than a hundred bucks.

Using a standard watch band is also possible, with the use of an adapter. Olixar has adapters that use screws while Click Polymer uses a telescopic strap insert. Using these kinds of adapters allows you to enjoy standard 22 mm unisex straps. Just a warning though, anybody can make an Apple Watch band as these are quite simple tools, which means that some brands may be cheaply made as there are no approval systems necessary to create a third party Apple Watch band.

Once you got yourself the band that you like you can go ahead and put it on the watch. Putting your new band in place is quite simple too. Just slide the bands in until a click is heard.
