The 7 Films that Dominated Crtitics Awards

2015 has been graced by a very diverse genre of movies ever shown. It is also a generous year for indie films as independent productions took the audience's appeal.

The recently concluded critics' awards have given seven films a head start in their race for the golden statue of Oscars next year.

According to thewrap.com, seven films namely, "Spotlight", "Love & Mercy", "Anomalisa", "Mad Max: Fury Road", "45 Years," "Carol," and "Amy" received praises from the critics' award.

"Spotlight" is directed by Tom McCarthy which is a drama about the investigation on the Boston's Globe sexual abuse in the Catholic Church.

"Mad Max: Fury Road" is directed by George Miller and it's an adrenalized won over the critics in Cannes. Unfortunately, The LA Film Critics Association awarded "Spotlight" the Best Picture award leaving Mad Max as a runner-up even though that movie was awarded with other major awards.

"Anomalisa" is a stop motion film directed by Charlie Kaufan. This movie is an idiosyncratic movie that was able to get even with Pixar's "Inside Out" in the animation category. Critics said that it's way better than the mainstreamed Pixar's production "Inside Out".

"Love & Mercy" is a Beach Boys' Brian Wilson biopic directed by Bill Pohlad set in the 1960s. Paul Dano also won a best actor award in Boston and New York online voting.

"45 Years" is starred by Charlotte Ramping and she has won a couple of critic's awards putting her on the spot against other actresses vying for the Best Actress win.

"Carol" received four awards from New York Film Critics Circle giving it a push to be noticed in the succeeding major awarding events.

"Amy" is directed by Asif Kapadia and running for the Best Documentary Feature race.

Nytimes.com said that this year, both indie films and Hollywood films are racing for the next year's Oscar Awards event.  Film critics are having a hard time as new era of film makers and producers are starting to surprise them with quality movies never before seen in the big screen.
