Tag Heuer Connected VS Other Smartwatches: What Makes Carrera Connected Tick?

When it comes to smart watches the names that come to mind are Apple, Motorola, LG and Samsung among others and these names made it big in the business of making smartphones and other handheld gadgets.

When Tag Heuer announced that it was releasing its own line of smart watch, the world was surprised. TAG Heuer is a big name in making classic luxury time pieces and producing an electronic computer-chip controlled watch was not expected. TAG Heuer seems to have proven that it is still the leader in making watches after releasing Carrera Connected.

According to The Verge, Carrera Connected, like other smartwatches, runs on Android Wear. It has an Intel processor that does the same function that Qualcomm chips do for other smartwatches. Moreover, Connected has circular touch screen and voice controls and like other smartwatches, it can count steps, show notifications and other info. But there is thing unique to Connected that sets it apart from the other smartwatches and it is visible in one look.

It still looks like a classic watch. It can do basic functions that other brands can do but it retains the TAG Heuer identity, the classic look of luxury. It costs only around $1,500 unlike some apple smart watch models that cost around $17,000. In a previous report by Tech Times, TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver criticizes the Apple Watch for having a product that becomes obsolete some time after purchase.

And according to Financial Review what is interesting with TAG's Carrera Connected right now is that it is proposing to anyone who buys the Connected a chance to swap it with a "classic" mechanical time piece of similar design after two years, when its warranty period is up. With other smartwatch brands, when its obsolete it's a done deal but with TAG Heuer's offer you can have the smartwatch for about two years then have a lasting mechanical watch after that.
