Astronaut Buzz Aldrin Sells Los Angeles Condo for $2.86 Million

Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon after Neil Armstrong, has reportedly managed to sell off his condo in Wiltshire Corridor, Los Angeles, for $2.86 million.

Aldrin's condo hit the market last January for $3.3 million just after his divorce from wife Lois Driggs Cannon. No pictures of the house were put up with the listing, but eventually a few snaps were released and the listing was then confirmed.

The condo sale comes as part of the divorce deal where Cannon is entitled to 50 percent of Aldrin's profits from any business, stocks and trademarks including his bank account. Aldrin has also agreed to pay alimony of $9500 per month topped with 30 percent of his annual income.

Karen and Steven Heiferman of Hilton & Hyland represent Aldrin in the deal, reports The Los Angeles Times. The home was price-chopped twice before it sold, last listing for $2.97 million. In April this year, the residence received an offer and was put into escrow but it closed sale only June 25, property records show.

The former spaceman's residence is located at Westwood, Los Angeles. The condo is a part of the famous La Tour building and sits on the seventh floor.

Spread over an area of 3,143-square-feet, the home comprises of 3.5 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms with complete floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The place also features two balconies and an open common space. The master suit opens up to scenic views and sports massive walk-in closets.

The La Tour building offers several luxury amenities. Valet-parking, a state-of-the-art gym, a pool and an activity area are some of its extensive facilities.

The Apollo 11 trip still pays large dividends, which is the major source of Aldrin's money. The man who went down in the pages of history is pretty much in demand. Angry Birds Space recently introduced a new chapter in the game and also unveiled a new bird called "Buzzard" and it's apparently inspired by the great Aldrin.

Meanwhile, TMZ is reporting that Cannon has picked up another property in the same building, shelling out $995,000 for a sixth floor condo. Property records show the home closed sale June 19. It was listed for $995,000.

Now, the sixth floor condo is a 2,045-square-feet residence that has two bedrooms and two and half bathrooms. Interiors feature stunning light hardwood flooring, drywall ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glass windows and an open floor plan.

"Elegance, sophistication, neutral decor, magnificent views all create a very special living experience. Move-in today and enjoy all this Full Service Boutique style building has to offer," the listings stated.
