Adele has been unseated from iTunes' top spot by no other than Jordan Smith of "The Voice."
The 21-year old singer sang "Somebody To Love" on NBC's "The Voice" last Monday. Adam Levine, one of the coaches said, "I don't need to say anything at all because that's one of the best things I've ever seen in my entire life."
Levine was not the only one who was amazed by the singer's performance, People notes. The country agreed with him and barely half an hour later after the competition's episode ended, Smith's version of the Queen's original song had hit iTunes top chart, unseating Adele and ending her five-week reign with her amazing comeback song, "Hello."
Incidentally, the singer also performed one of Adele's song "Set Fire To The Rain" for the Knockout round back in October, Gossip Cop reports.
Smith, hailed from Harlan, Kentucky made a joke and made the audience laugh when he said he gets called "ma'am" over the telephone a lot due to his high-pitched voice. He is a college student from Lee University.
He has been getting positive feedback from the coaches. Earlier that day, he performed Sia's "Chandelier" and coach Gwen Stefani said, it's "trippiest turn-around blind audition" and the "freakiest thing I've ever experienced in my life."
However, he is following Levine's footsteps, on the top charts and has great words for the coach. He told People, "He is super involved as a coach. That's not an act. He was just talking to us about our next song choices and takes the time to listen through songs and find the right fit for us."
When asked about his fellow contestants, he replied, "We have grown close. I'd be thrilled to win myself, but just as thrilled for one of these ladies or anyone on any of the other teams to win. I think this is a great opportunity and everyone here is deserving of it."
